MARYLAND BOARD APPROVED RADIOLOGY COURSE "DENTAL RADIOLOGY FOR DENTAL ASSISTANTS" 36-HOUR COURSE COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is approved by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. Successful completion of this course qualifies the individual to sit for the DANB Dental Radiation Health and Safety Examination. Passing this exam allows the dental assistant to place and expose dental radiographs in the State of Maryland. Assistants must register with the State Board after passing the exam. AREAS TO BE ADDRESSED History and Principles, the dental x-ray unit, mounting x-rays, processing, radiographic anatomy, bisecting angle technique, paralleling technique and emphasis on radiation safety. All clinical practice takes place at the student's place of employment. For specialty practices who may not have the necessary equipment, arrangements can be made to expose one FMX on a patient.
